Family pictures are commonplace: many moms and dads want to have of their families, so they get together, hire a professional photographer, and pose for the camera!
While this normally a very happy time, what with all the smiles often seen, one family picture is sending internet users over the edge with one creepy detail.

Many people have come up with theories about the phantom arm, according to RelayHero.
The first is that the hand in the family photo belongs to a ghost. Whether you believe in the spiritual world or not, it definitely seems to inspire some kind of belief in the supernatural.
And that’s perhaps why so many people shared an opinion on the photo in question. All the best ghost stories have some element of truth to them, something that makes them relatable (and all the more terrifying for it). The hand in this photo is definitely real… but who could it belong to?
The second theory is a little more grounded in reality (in other hands, duller). Some commenters were quick to state their opinion that it’s actually the mom’s arm we can see, and that the middle, older child was actually added into the photo with some nifty computer program.
This means that our ‘ghost’ is not a ghost at all, at least not in the spooky way you were probably thinking. Rather, it could well be the result of someone trying to edit a family member into a picture.
