Using an air fryer to make “boiled” eggs might sound surprising, but it’s one of the easiest and most dependable methods once you try it. This approach removes the guesswork of stovetop boiling and helps prevent cracked shells. The result is tender eggs that peel easily, whether you prefer soft, jammy, or fully cooked yolks. It’s a simple kitchen trick that quickly becomes part of a regular routine.
To get started, you’ll need eggs of any size (large eggs are most common), ice cubes, cold water, and optional seasonings like salt or pepper. You’ll also need an air fryer, a heat-safe bowl for an ice bath, and tongs or a slotted spoon for safe handling. For best results, eggs that are about five to seven days old tend to peel more easily than very fresh ones.
Begin by preheating the air fryer to 270°F (130°C) for about two to three minutes. Arrange the eggs in a single layer in the basket, leaving space between them so air circulates evenly. Cook for 9–10 minutes for soft yolks, 11–12 minutes for jammy centers, or 13–15 minutes for fully set eggs. There’s no need to flip or check them during cooking.
Once done, transfer the eggs immediately to an ice bath and let them cool for at least five minutes. This stops the cooking process and makes peeling easier. Gently crack and peel under cool running water, then season as desired. These eggs are perfect for breakfast, salads, snacks, or meal prep throughout the week.
