Every so often, something simple yet clever captures the internet’s attention—and a license plate from Perth recently did just that. Parked at a local shopping center, a Kia Sportage caught the eye of passersby thanks to its unique plate: “370HSSV.”

At first glance, the plate appeared ordinary. But when a curious onlooker flipped the image upside down, a surprising hidden word emerged, delighting anyone who noticed.

The playful trick quickly spread online, turning a mundane parking lot photo into a viral sensation. The image, originally shared by a user named Jeffrey on The Bell Tower Times 2.0 Facebook page, amassed thousands of comments and shares.

People admired the driver’s creativity and humor, noting that the clever design had passed official approval without issue. In Western Australia, nearly a thousand personalized plate applications are rejected each year for containing inappropriate or suggestive content.

Authorities typically deny plates with questionable meanings, slang references, or phrases that could be seen as offensive. Yet this particular plate found a clever middle ground: humorous, harmless, and undeniably clever.

The story demonstrates how a small act of creativity can capture global attention in the digital age. Something as simple as a license plate can spark conversation, amusement, and admiration for ingenuity.

It also highlights the balance authorities must strike between regulation and allowing personal expression. Sometimes, a little humor is harmless—and even welcomed—by a community.

Ultimately, the “370HSSV” plate is a reminder that humor, when done right, can make people smile. Even small, everyday ideas can take on a life of their own online, proving that creativity often thrives in unexpected places.

  • My college sweetheart, a Vietnam w’ar pilot, disappeared 55 years ago—on my annual flight to his memorial, a voice from the cockpit said my name. I was twenty-one when Thomas disappeared over Vietnam. We met in college, two broke kids sharing coffee because neither of us could afford two cups. He studied engineering. I studied literature. By senior year, everyone assumed we’d marry. Then he became a military pilot. The night before he left, he pressed his forehead to mine and said, “Don’t let me become some sad story you tell when you’re old.” “Then come back.” He smiled. “I will.” Six months later, two officers came to my parents’ house. Thomas’s aircraft had vanished during a mission. No confirmed crash site. No body. Missing in action. For years, I waited for a knock on the door. It never came. I never married. People told me I was wasting my life, but loving someone else always felt like admitting Thomas was truly gone. Every time I saw a plane in the sky, I blew it a kiss and pressed my palm to my heart. Every year on his birthday, I flew to the memorial where his name was carved and left the same thing: one white rose and the photograph of us taken the week before he deployed. Fifty-five years passed that way. This year, just as we were preparing to land, the cabin speakers crackled. I barely listened at first. Then I heard my name. “Ms. Eleanor?” My fingers tightened around my cup of water. The voice came from the cockpit. A man’s voice. A stranger’s. But it was shaking. “If you’re in seat 12A, I need you to know this announcement is for you.” People around me turned. My heart began pounding. The voice continued. “I know where you’re going today.” I couldn’t move. “And I know whose memorial you’re visiting.” A woman across the aisle stared at me. Then the man said the name I hadn’t heard spoken by a stranger in decades. “Thomas.” My throat closed. How did he know? There was a long silence over the speaker. Then: “Ms. Eleanor… someone has been trying to find you for a very long time. It’s time you knew the whole truth.” I sat frozen. A flight attendant touched my shoulder. “Ma’am, please stay seated. The captain asked everyone else to deplane first.” My hands started trembling. Minutes later, the cabin was empty. I heard the cockpit door unlock. It opened. A man stepped out. The cup slipped from my hand and hit the floor. Water splashed across my shoes. No. It wasn’t Thomas. But when I saw the man’s face, I couldn’t breathe. I gripped the armrest with both hands. “Oh my God…” I whispered. He cleared his throat and said just two sentences that made the blood drain from my face…. read on in the comments below. 👇
