Few Hollywood figures embody resilience quite like Michael J. Fox. For over four decades, he has inspired millions — first as the energetic star of Family Ties and Back to the Future, and later as a powerful advocate for Parkinson’s awareness. Yet among all his roles, his favorite remains being a husband and father.
Married to actress Tracy Pollan since 1988, Fox often says his greatest joy is their four children: Sam, Aquinnah, Schuyler, and Esmé. Each has grown into thoughtful, creative adults who continue to inspire their father’s optimism. Sam, the eldest, has worked behind the scenes in entertainment, including on his father’s acclaimed documentary Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie.
Twins Aquinnah and Schuyler have pursued careers in psychology, film, and education, while the youngest, Esmé, is currently studying at Duke University. Fox credits his family for giving him strength through every challenge. Even after his Parkinson’s diagnosis in 1991, he made it a priority to stay active and present in their lives. “My family is my foundation,” he has said. “They’re my reason for everything.”
Today, through the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research, he continues to advocate for hope and discovery. The organization has raised billions toward treatment advancements and remains a global force for good. For Fox, true success isn’t measured by fame, but by love, laughter, and the unshakable bond of family — values his four children proudly carry forward every day.
