It seems Miley Cyrus will no longer go by Miley Cyrus 👀 ⠀‍ᅠㅤㅤ

Miley Cyrus quietly removed “Cyrus” from her official website and left only one word, “Miley.” The change was small enough to fit in a browser header, yet it immediately prompted questions because names have always carried unusual weight in her career. The decision arrived during a painful week marked by the death of her godmother, Dolly Parton.

Miley had never treated an artistic era as a simple release schedule. Hair, clothing, album covers, stage design, and typography became clues to what she was feeling and which version of herself she was ready to present. Going by one name therefore felt less like a random edit and more like another carefully chosen signal.

The Cyrus surname connects her to her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and to the childhood fame that first introduced her to millions of viewers. It also carries expectations about family, country music, and the public conflicts that have followed different members of the family. Removing it from one official space does not erase that history, but it changes what appears first.

The timing made the decision especially emotional. Miley described Dolly as Aunt Dolly, but the role extended beyond an affectionate nickname. Dolly was family, mentor, artistic guide, and a place of safety. She had supported Miley through criticism, transformation, and the difficult task of separating an adult career from a famous childhood identity.

In her tribute, Miley wrote that Dolly would want her to feel everything, write a song about it, and keep going. That instruction matched the way Dolly had built her own life. She never denied hardship, but she repeatedly turned private pain into music that could be shared without losing its emotional truth.

Against that promise, the single name “Miley” looked vulnerable rather than grand. It removed both a family marker and the distance of a complete celebrity brand. What remained was the name people closest to her would use, standing alone while she grieved a woman who had helped her understand how to survive fame.

No announcement explained whether the website change introduced a new album, tour, performance, or permanent professional identity. Fans could only compare the sparse page with Miley’s history of using visual shifts before major projects. Some saw a farewell to an earlier chapter, while others read it as the first sign of music shaped by loss.

Either interpretation returns to the same emotional point. Dolly’s death left Miley without a mentor who had been present since before her birth. Continuing forward would inevitably look different. A new project might honor Dolly directly, but even ordinary career decisions would now occur without the person whose advice had helped Miley measure criticism and trust herself.

Using one name can also represent ownership. Miley has changed styles many times, but those changes were often judged in relation to her father, her Disney years, or public expectations about how she should behave. “Miley” presents the artist without explaining which family or era gives her permission to exist.

That does not necessarily mean rejecting the people who shaped her. Dolly herself encouraged Miley to become more fully her own person. Carrying that lesson forward may be one of the strongest ways to honor her. The guidance remains even when the guide is gone.

For now, the website offers no complete answer. It records a choice made in grief: strip the name down, allow the uncertainty to be visible, and continue creating. Whether it becomes a new album title or simply the way she wants to be known, “Miley” expresses the promise she attributed to Dolly. She can feel the loss, write from it, and keep moving without hiding behind anything more than her own name.

  • “My husband left me after we lost one of our twin daughters — but on her sister’s 18th birthday, my father came to me and said, “He made me promise I wouldn’t tell you anything until today.” When my twin daughters, Lily and Emily, were five years old, Emily suddenly became seriously ill. An ambulance rushed her to the hospital, and only a few hours later, a doctor came out and told me that Emily hadn’t survived. I couldn’t understand how I was supposed to keep living after that. Then something else happened. After Emily’s funeral, my husband, Carl, came up to me. His face looked empty. “I’m sorry, but I can’t do this anymore.” Then he left. He walked away from me and our daughter, Lily. Grief completely consumed my life. I’d lost one of my little girls, and I’d always believed Carl and I would somehow survive that nightmare together. But we never got the chance. The only person who never stopped supporting me was my father. Dad was always there. He’d been there when the twins were born. He babysat them constantly. Sometimes he’d stop by after work for no reason other than to spend an hour playing with them. God, he loved those girls. When Emily died, it nearly destroyed him too. So we stayed close and tried to survive the grief together. Those first years were incredibly difficult, but Dad helped me raise Lily. Honestly, I don’t know how I would’ve managed without him. Thirteen years passed. During all that time, I never heard a single word from Carl. No phone calls. No letters. Nothing. But that had been his decision. Eventually, I even stopped asking myself how a father could simply walk away from his surviving daughter like that. Until yesterday. Yesterday was Lily’s 18th birthday. We celebrated with our family, and for the first time in a long while, it was genuinely a wonderful day. Lily laughed. She opened presents. We ate too much cake. And for a few hours, I allowed myself to stop thinking about everything we’d lost. Late that evening, after Lily had gone to bed, I was still in the kitchen cleaning dirty dishes when my father walked toward me. Something about his expression immediately worried me. He looked pale. “Dad, are you okay?” He stared down at the floor. Then he quietly said: “Honey, I’ve done something terrible to you. Please forgive me.” I turned toward him. “Dad, what are you talking about?” He placed a small box on the kitchen table. His hands were trembling. “Carl made me swear I wouldn’t tell you anything until today. Until Lily turned eighteen.” I couldn’t speak. Dad continued. “Honey, Carl didn’t leave without a reason. There’s something you were never told.” My knees started shaking so badly that I had to sit down. “What is going on?” Dad swallowed hard. “Open the box, and you’ll understand everything.” He paused. Then he said the words that made my entire body go cold. “What happened to Emily wasn’t what you thought.” I stared at him. For thirteen years, I’d believed I knew exactly what had happened to my daughter. “What do you mean?” Dad didn’t answer. He simply pushed the box toward me. I slowly lifted the lid. There were several documents inside. A photograph. And one sealed envelope with my name written across the front in Carl’s handwriting. My heart started pounding. I picked up the photograph first. And the moment I saw what was in it, the room seemed to tilt beneath me. I looked at my father. He had tears running down his face. And suddenly, I understood why he’d waited until Lily turned eighteen. I know you’re curious to find out what happened next, so keep reading in the comments below.
