Panic hit before the rain did. Sirens wailed, phones lit up, and the sky turned the color of bruised steel as an “extremely dangerous” storm exploded over Region B. Streets vanished in sheets of water. Trees snapped, power lines sparked, families huddled in darkness.
For hours, the storm hammered Region B with a relentless mix of roaring wind and blinding rain, testing both buildings and nerves. Families listened to windows rattle and roofs groan, counting seconds between lightning and thunder while emergency alerts kept buzzing through the night. In shelters, strangers shared blankets, stories, and phone chargers, clinging to any scrap of information about what was happening outside. Volunteers moved quietly between cots, offering hot drinks and calm voices as children asked when they could go home.
By early morning, the worst appeared to be passing, leaving behind a landscape of broken branches, flooded streets, and neighborhoods plunged into silence by power cuts. Yet beneath the shock, there was a quiet resolve. Neighbors checked on one another, crews cleared debris, and officials promised support for the long cleanup ahead. The fear remained, but so did something stronger: a community that refused to face the storm alone.
