Using an electric kettle to boil water: 9 out of 10 households make this mistake, so remind your family members to correct it soon 👇

Boiling water in an electric kettle seems simple, yet many households use it in ways that reduce efficiency and safety. A common mistake is overfilling or underfilling the kettle. Too much water takes longer to boil and wastes energy, while too little can expose the heating element and damage the appliance over time.

Another frequent issue is leaving unused water inside the kettle for long periods. Stagnant water can affect taste and lead to mineral buildup, especially in areas with hard water. It’s better to empty the kettle after use and refill it with fresh water when needed.

Many people also ignore regular cleaning. Limescale gradually forms inside the kettle, reducing heating efficiency and increasing energy consumption. Descaling with simple solutions like vinegar or a commercial cleaner helps maintain performance and extends the kettle’s lifespan.

Placing the kettle on an unstable or wet surface is another overlooked problem. Moisture near the base or power connection can create safety risks. Keeping the kettle on a dry, flat surface ensures stable operation and prevents electrical issues.

Using the wrong power source or overloading outlets is also common. Plugging the kettle into a safe, dedicated outlet reduces the risk of overheating wires or causing short circuits, especially in older homes.

Some users repeatedly reboil the same water. While not immediately dangerous, it can concentrate minerals and slightly affect taste. Boiling only the amount of water needed once is more efficient and healthier.

Ignoring the lid and filter is another mistake. A loose lid can slow boiling, and a clogged filter may affect water flow and cleanliness. Checking these small parts regularly keeps the kettle working properly.

By correcting these habits, households can improve safety, save energy, and extend the life of their kettle. Small changes in daily use make a noticeable difference, ensuring clean, efficient boiling every time.
